Falkland Islands

Falkland Islands

Climate

The climate of the Falkland Islands (or Malvinas) is cold maritime: winter is cold, windy, and snowy, while summer is very cool, if not cold, and it's rainy and windy as well. The humidity is high, and the sky is often cloudy throughout the year. In autumn and winter, the wind can be stormy.

The islands are located in the South Atlantic Ocean, so they have reversed seasons than the Northern Hemisphere. Only in December and January, the rainfall is slightly higher.

The only official language of the Falkland Islands is English, and Spanish is spoken by a small immigrant minority, mostly Chileans and Argentines.
